To create iCloud backup on your iPhone

  • Connect your iPhone with Wi-Fi connection.
  • Go to Settings > [your name] and tap “iCloud.” For iOS 10.2 or earlier, go to Settings, scroll down and then tap “iCloud.”

  • Tap “iCloud Backup.” For iOS 10.2 or earlier, tap “Backup.” Make sure that iCloud Backup is enabled.

  • Tap “Back Up Now.” Male sure that your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi network until the process completes.

After completing the above given steps, you may check the progress and confirm the backup completed. Then Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup. Under Back Up Now, you can see the created back up with date and time.

To restore iCloud backup on your iPhone

  • Switch on your iPhone. You should see a Hello screen. If you already set up your iPhone, you need to reset your iPhone to restore the created iCloud back up.
  • Follow the onscreen setup steps until you reach the Apps & Data screen and then tap “Restore from iCloud Backup.”

  • Sign in to iCloud with your Apple ID.
  • Select a backup. You can see date and size of each and choose the most relevant.
  • After selecting the backup, the transfer starts. If you will be asked to get the newer version of iOS, follow the onscreen steps to update.
  • Then, you will be prompted to sign in your Apple ID account to restore your apps and purchases. If you can’t remember your password, you may tap “Skip this Step” and sign in later.
  • Stay connected with your Wi-Fi network and wait for a progress bar to appear and complete. Restore time depends upon the size of the backup and the network speed; the progress bar might need a few minutes to an hour to complete. In case you lose the Wi-Fi connectivity, the progress will pause until you reconnect.
  • Once set up is finished, you may use your iPhone. Content like your apps, photos, music, and other information will keep restoring in the background for the next several hours or days, as per the data size.
  • Make sure your iPhone stay connected with power and Wi-Fi network to complete the iCloud back up restore.
