How to start your Windows 10 PC in Safe Mode
Safe Mode is also known as diagnostic mode for computer operating systems. Safe mode starts Windows in a basic state, using a limited set of files and drivers. It helps you to analyze and troubleshoot problems on your PC. For example, if you are not facing issue with the specific software in safe mode, it means default settings and basic device drivers are working fine on your PC. Basically, there are two type of this mode, one is Safe Mode and another one is Safe mode with networking, the only difference is that safe mode with networking helps you to troubleshoot issues related to network drivers and connected computers to your Windows 10 PC. Here, we will provide you some steps to start your Windows 10 PC in Safe Mode.
To start your PC in Safe Mode from settings
You may easily boot your PC in Safe Mode from your system settings by following the below given steps:
- Press “Windows key + I”key shortcut to open Settings or select settings from the Start Menu.
- Click Update & security> Recovery.
- Under “Advanced” startup option, click “Restart now.”
- After your PC restarts to the “Choose an option”screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- While your PC is restarting, you will get a list of options. Press 4or F4 to start your PC in Safe Mode or if you want to use Internet, press 5 or F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.
To start your PC in Safe Mode from the sign in screen
You may also start your Windows 10 computer in Safe Mode from the sign in screen, follow the below given steps to do that:
- Restart your computer. When you get to the sign-in screen, press and hold the Shift key down while you click Power > Restart.
- After your computer restarts to the “Choose an option screen”, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- While your PC is restarting, you will get a list of options. Press 4or F4 to start your PC in Safe Mode or if you want to use Internet, press 5 or F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.
