How to enable or disable Settings and Control Panel in Windows 10 PC

Most of the users would never need to restrict or disable Settings and Control Panel on their computer. How to enable or disable Settings and Control Panel using Group Policy Editor?

By following the below given steps you may easily turn on or off Settings and Control Panel using Group Policy Editor.

• On your Windows 10 PC, type “Local Group Policy Editor” in the Start Menu and then hit enter to open Local Group Policy Editor.
• In the Local Group Policy Editor window, go to User Configuration> Administrative Templates > Control Panel.
• In the right-side pane, find “Prohibit access to Control Panel and PC Settings” policy and then double-click on it to open its properties.

• Now, select the “Enabled” option to disable or block both the Settings and Control Panel.

• After making the above changes, click on the “Apply” button.
• Moreover, if you want you may also re- enable Settings and Control Panel by selecting “Not Configured” and clicking the “Apply” button.

How to enable or disable Settings and Control Panel using Registry Editor?

If you are using Windows 10 Home Edition, you may turn on or off Settings and Control Panel using Registry Editor.

• On your Windows 10 PC, type “Regedit” in the Start Menu and then hit Enter key.
• Click “Yes” if you get the “User Account Prompt.”
• Follow the below given path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

• In the right-side pane, right-click on a blank space, click “New”, click “DWORD (32-bit) Value” and then name it as “NoControlPanel.”

• Now, double-click on the “NoControlPanel”value and then set its value data from 0 to 1 to disable or block both the Control Panel and Settings.

• If you want, you may also re enable it by setting the value from 1 to 0.
