What to do when your system backup is newer than your device’s iOS version?
Most of us create backup of our device using iTunes or iCloud to update the OS or fix some software issues on device. But many times when you try to restore an iCloud backup, you are prompted to get a newer version of ions to restore the backup. In such a case, you may setup Assistant that will automatically update your software and restore your backup. But if you are asked for new version while restoring the iTunes backup, you may get an error that your iTunes backup can’t be restored because your device is running old software. Let’s learn how to restore iCloud and iTune Backup successfully on your iOS device, when you are asked to for later version of iOS.
By following the below given steps you may set up, update and erase your device so that you can restore iCloud or iTunes backup without getting any error.
- Open iTunes or the Apps & Data screen on your iPhone.
- Select “Set Up as New iPhone” instead of “Restore from Backup.” If you already tapped “Restore from Backup”, you may tap “Back” to return to the “Set Up” screen.
- Follow all the steps except the steps for Apple ID, Touch ID, and passcode on your device.
- Once the set up is done, update your device to the latest version of iOS. Update process takes some time so let the update complete, and wait for your device to restart.
- Now remove your iOS device by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
- Once your device is erased, it restarts and you will see the “Hello screen” in the “Setup Assistant.”
After following the above given steps, you will be able to configure your device again and select a backup to restore from to restore the iTunes backup without getting any error.
