How to use depth control feature in iPhone XS, Max and XR series

Apple keeps updating iOS to introduce new features and modify existing ones. Recently, Apple launched iPhone XS, Max and XR series with new exciting features. These features include Dynamic Desktop, Quick View, Depth Control and more. If you like photography, Depth control is the best feature that turns your iPhone in to camera. Moreover, you may use depth control to adjust the aperture used when taking a photo, even after taking the photo.

By adjusting Depth Control, you may blur the background of image when you take a photo in Portrait Mode.Portrait mode uses the two lenses together to create a depth map so that the image processor can later create a dynamic f-ratio. You may decide the ratio value by using the slider available in edit mode. How to use depth control feature while clicking the picture?

If you are using iOS 12.1 on latest devices, you may easily use depth control feature by following the below given steps:

  • On your iPhone, open your Camera and select “Portrait Mode” at the bottom of the screen.
  • Find your subject, tap the new small button at the top right of the screen, doing so will display the Aperture slider at the bottom of the image, here you may preview this effect in real-time.

  • To blur the image background, slide to the right on the screen. Similarly, you may reduce the blur effect by sliding to the left side of screen.
  • Once achieve the effect you like the best, tap the large red button to capture the image.

How to use depth control feature after clicking the picture?

By following the below given steps, you may click the picture and then use depth control feature to apply best effect in it.

  • On your iPhone, open your Camera and select “Portrait Mode” at the bottom of the screen.
  • Find your subject and click the picture.
  • Now, tap “Edit”, doing so will display Aperture slider at the bottom of the image.
