How to turn off or on recent apps feature in macOS Mojave?

Recently, Apple has released macOS Mojave that includes a bunch of new advanced features like Dynamic Desktop, Stacks, Dark Mode, Quick Look, Quick View, Screen Recording etc. With macOS Mojave, you also get a useful feature to display recently used apps on Dock that helps you to use apps more frequently. Recent apps feature is enabled by default and it shows all the recently used apps on the right side of the Dock in a section marked off by horizontal white lines. Moreover, In the Dock’s default setup, you may see recent apps are located between the Settings and Downloads icons. You may see three recently used apps. If you don’t want to see recent apps, you may  disable it.

By following the below given steps you may disable or enable recent apps feature on your Mac.

  • On your Mac, select Apple menuSystem Preferences.
  • Click on “Dock.”

  • In the Dock preferences, you may see a checkbox for “Show recent applications in Dock” option. It is enabled by default so that you may uncheck this box to disable it. Similarly, you may enable it again by checking the box.

  • After making all the changes, close the preferences window.
