How to import Photos from a hard disk, optical disc or flash drive?

If you stored photos on CD, DVD or flash drive, you may easily import them to you Mac, follow the below given steps to do that.

Note: Make sure the device is connected to your Mac until photos are imported.

  • First of all, connect the device to your Mac.
  • Open “Photos”, select File > Import and then select the items you want to import.
  • Click “Review for Import.”
  • To set the location to import the items, click the “Import to” pop-up menu and select a location.

  • If you selected a folder that already contains other folders, select “Library.”
  • After that, do any of the following:
  • If you selected multiple photos or videos, click “Import All New Photos” or select the ones you want to import and then click “Import [number] Selected.”
  • If you selected a folder of items that contains other folders organized in your way, check the box in front of “Keep Folder Organization” and then click “Import All New Photos.”

Once photos are imported, you may see them in the Imports and Photos albums in the sidebar.

How to import Photos from Storage device?

Most of the Mac systems come with the built in SD card slot. If your Mac does not have any SD card, you may use card reader to connect your SD card with your system. If you stored photos on your SD card and want to import them to your Mac, follow the below given simple steps to do that.

  • First of all, insert the card into your computer’s SD card slot or connect a card reader to your computer and insert the card into the card reader.
  • Open “Photos”, select File > Import and then select the items you want to import.
  • Click “Review for Import.”
  • If you selected multiple photos or videos, do any of the following:

  • To import all new photos: Select “Import All New Photos.”
  • To import a selection of photos: Select the photos you want to import and then click “Import Selected.”
  • If a message prompts, whether you want to delete or keep the photos on your SD card after importing them, click “Delete Items” or “Keep Items.”
  • While importing your photos and videos, if you want to cancel importing, click “Stop Import.”
  • Once photos are imported, eject the card from your computer or card reader.
