How to fix your Mac’s Dock when it gets stuck

Sometimes, you might have seen that your system Dock gets stuck or suddenly stops working on your Mac. Step 1: Restart the Dock

Usually, this Dock issue gets fixed by just restarting it, you may easily restart the dock by following the below given steps:

• On your Mac, go to Applications > Utilities and then click “Terminal.”

• In the Terminal Windows, type or copy paste the following command and then hit “Enter.”

killall Dock

• As you run this command, the Dock should restart itself automatically.

Step 2: Reset and restart the Dock

• In the Terminal Windows, type or copy paste the following command and then hit “Enter.”

defaults delete com.apple.dock; killall Dock

• The above command will reset the dock back to its default settings, so that you may reconfigure the Dock the way you had it, if you use different settings.

Step 3: Restart the Finder

Sometimes, Finder itself may cause issues with Dock so you may fix it by restarting the finder on your Mac. Follow the below given steps to do that.

• On your Mac, go to Applications > Utilities and then click “Terminal.”

• In the Terminal Windows, type or copy paste the following command and then hit “Enter.”

killAll Finder

• Moreover, if you are not willing to use the terminal, you may hold down the “Option” key, right-click the Finder icon and then click the “Relaunch” command.
