How to make Secret Conversations in Facebook Messenger on your Smartphone

Like Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger is also a popular instant messaging app that you may use to communicate with your family or friends on your Android or iOS device.  If you want to secure your conversations over Messenger, Facebook has added a feature to keep your personal talks secured and encrypted. All you need to do is just start a secret conversation in Messenger.

A secret conversation in Messenger is encrypted end-to-end, which means the messages are deliberated just for you and the other person, not anyone else. Secret conversations are currently only available in the Messenger app on iOS and Android, so they won’t be started using any browser on your computer. Let’s learn how to start a secret conversation in Facebook Messenger.

How to start or remove a secret conversation in Facebook Messenger?

If you want to start a secret conversation in Facebook Messenger, follow these steps:

• Open the Facebook message on your Smartphone.
• Make sure “Chats” tab is selected and then tap the “Pen icon” in the top right corner of the screen.
• In the top right, tap “Secret” (On iOS device) or enable the lock icon (On Android device) and then select the person whom you want to message.
• If you want, tap the clock icon in the text box and set a timer to make the messages disappear.

How to delete a secret conversation in Facebook Messenger?

If you did not set the time, you may also delete secret conversations manually, follow these steps:

For Android user

• Launch the Facebook message on your Android phone.
• Select the “Chats” tab; tap your “profile picture” in the top right corner of the screen.
• Now, scroll down and select “Secret Conversations.”
• Tap on the “Delete All Secret Conversations” option.
• Finally tap on the “Delete” button to confirm the deletion.

For iPhone or iPad user

• Launch the Facebook message on your iPhone or iPad.
• Select the “Chats” tab; tap your “profile picture” in the top left corner of the screen.
• Now, scroll down and select “Secret Conversations.”
• Tap on the “Delete All Secret Conversations” option.

• Finally tap on the “Delete” button to confirm the deletion

This is how you may start secret conversations in Facebook Messenger. You may send Messages, Pictures, Stickers, Videos and Voice recordings via a secret conversation. It does not support Group messages, Gifs, Voice or video calling, and Payments.
