How to upgrade iPhoto Library using iPhoto Library Upgrader tool on your Mac?

Most of us create a data backup before updating macOS version so that we may restore our data to the updated system. But it is not compulsory the data you created or stored on earlier version will work on the new version. For example, if you created a photo library on earlier version, it may show a message that says “Library version too old.” In such a case you might get a thought of downgrading to previous version. You may easily upgrade the iPhoto library using the iPhoto Library Upgrader tool on your Mac, follow the below given steps:

  • First of all download and install the tool from the App Store on your Mac.
  • When you see a window with the message that says “The installation was successful” click “Close.”
  • In the Finder, click the “Go” menu and then select “Utilities.”

  • Now, open the iPhoto Library Upgrader from the “Utilities” folder
  • If the library is directly shown in the window is not the one you want to upgrade, click “Choose Library” and select the iPhoto Library you want.

  • Click “Continue” to upgrade your library.
  • When you see the message that says “Your library can now be upgraded by the current version of iPhoto. Do you want to launch iPhoto?” click “Quit.”

Once the library is upgraded, you may easily migrate your library to Photos for OS X if you are running OS X Yosemite v10.10.3 or later.
