How to create rules to filter your emails in Gmail

How to create a filter in Gmail?
You may easily create a filter for your entire Gmail or use any specific message to create filter, follow the below given steps to do that:
- On your computer, sign into your Gmail account.
- In the search box at the top of the screen, click the “Down arrow.”
- Here, enter your search criteria. By clicking search, you may check that your search worked correctly or not.
- At the bottom of the search window, click “Create filter with this search.”
- Now, select what you would like the filter to do and then click “Create filter.”
If you want to use specific message to create filter, you have to follow the below given steps:
- On your computer, sign into your Gmail account.
- Check the box next to the email you want and click “More.”
- Select “Filter messages like these”, enter your filter criteria and then click “Create filter.”
How to edit or delete filters in Gmail?
If you don’t want to set filter or want to make changes in existing filters, you may easily do it by following the below given steps:
- On your computer, sign into your Gmail account.
- At the top right corner of the screen, click Settings and then select “Settings” from the drop down menu.
- Click “Filters and Blocked Addresses” and locate the filter you want to change.
- Click “Edit or Delete” to remove the filter. If you are editing the filter, click “Continue” after completing the editing.
- Click “Update filter or OK.”
How to export or import filters from Gmail?
If you want to share your account filters to your friends or want to get their filters to your account , you may easily do it by exporting and importing them, follow the below given steps to do that:
- On your computer, sign into your Gmail account.
- At the top right corner of the screen, click Settings and then select “Settings” from the drop down menu.
- Click “Filters and Blocked Addresses” and then check the box next to the filter.
- To export filter, at the bottom of the page, click “Export”, doing so will give you a .xml file, which you can edit in a text editor if you want.
- To import filter, at the bottom of the page, click “Import filters.”
- Select the file with the filter that you want to import, click “Open file” and then click “Create filters.”
